Biometrics

Post by Mfareedh92 » Sat Nov 23, 2019 1:53 pm

Hi All,

I have an enquiry about Biometrics. My wife is currently in Indonesia but she only has a visa-on-arrival and she has an Indian passport. I am applying a spouse visa on her behalf from UK. Will she be able to get Bio metrics done from Indonesia or would she have to go to India to get the biometrics done?

What evidence is required "Evidence that you have permission to be in the country you are applying from" mean?

Thanks,
Fareedh

It sounds like there are three locations in Indonesia where she can get biometrics done while there. You should get informed of where to go once the application has been submitted and reviewed.

Evidence of permission to be in the country you're applying from would be some form of visa, if it's a visa on arrival then she should have something stating that even if it's just a stamp in the passport. I would be wary though, Indonesia visa on arrival is only for 30 days with a possible 30 day extension, how long has she been in Indonesia/how much longer does she intend on staying? These things don't happen overnight and if she is no longer in Indonesia once instructed to go to a visa centre for her biometrics then obviously that would be a problem.

Visa on arrival - is she on a visit or has changed this to further residency or work type visa.
Evidence of permission refers to things to show legal residence in country being applied from.

So she has lived in Indonesia throughout her life but her parents never applied for citizenship. While studying she was on a student visa. Now she is just visa on arrival untill she gets to the UK.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. I am aware her biometrics can be taken in Indonesia. I am just worried that her visa-on-arrival will prevent her from doing so. She has stayed there her whole life, she has been on student visa. But now we are waiting for her spouse visa to go through she can start working here instead. She will be there untill spouse visa goes though. Hopefully she won;t have to wait for long time.
