Requesting Original Documents - Passport Application

Hello, I have applied for my first adult British passport on 13th Nov and I would like to request my Turkish passport and Naturalisation Certificate back. I need my passport as I have a student visa on it for Japan and I need my certificate to show my UK university that my status is home-student (they only want originals and do not accept photocopies/scan as they emailed me their request/they also said unless I prove that I have home-student status my access to uni services, buildings, etc will be gradually cut off as I pay home-student fees).

Did anyone have experiences requesting their original documents back? My application is with HMPO Glasgow (even though I live in London) and I called them/contacted them through Twitter and emailed them and they said they don't know how the process of asking for documents works. I've been waiting for 2 weeks now and I know the application can take longer but all the timelines I've looked for were between 10-17 days and I am very stressed about this situation.
