Schengen visa -- passport valid for less than 3 months

Post by Caroline-CC » Mon Jul 28, 2008 8:12 pm

Hello all!

I am a Brit marrying a Russian in November 2008. He's a Canadian resident and has a marriage visa to get married in the UK. We're now thinking of honeymoons -- we'd like to go to Vienna in particular. Problem is, his passport expires in December 2008 and so the question is this:
does he have any chances of getting a visa for Austria if his passport is valid for less than 3 months after desired visit date? Will the fact that he'll be married to me, a Brit, make any difference?
Failing that, Edinburgh it is...
Many thanks!
Caroline

Married to u doesnt make any difference cus u r not an EU citizen and there is no LAW for u withen the EU community ..

But maybe might just be a bit easy for him but also might be a bit complicated cus he might need an invitation letter to get into any EU country.

For his passport issue ...even if ur taking him to canada, he still have to renew the passport cus no country issues visa for a 3 month less passport validity ..
better renew to avoid any problems

Sorry for the misunderstanding...
But he still need to renew is passport...thats the whole embassies's rules and regulations ..not EU law

Minimum of 3 month validity before any visa can be placed on the passport.

lets say somebody has 1 month visa of the country he is residing at the moment, left on his passport. And his passport is going to expire in years. Could he lodge a visa application from the residing country to go to study for the diffrent country.

Thanx in advance.
