T2 curtailment letter--urgent help needed

Post by heidi23 » Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:55 pm

Dear Forum Experts,

I am a T2 working visa holder and ended my contract with my employer end of this April( Before we signed a 3- year contract and the visa would end 2021).

They informed the home office at the same time but I have not received the curtailment letter until now.
I am not sure if the curtailment letter has been sent out or not.

I tried to call related department but there is always automatic answer and no one reply the phone.
Some friends suggest me to wait as it may take long time to get the letter, but I suppose if the letter is sent out or lost, I may face the situation of overstaying illegally and also would affect my future T2 visa application. So I really want to know how can I check my current status rather than keeping waiting ? Like whether the curtailment letter is sent out or not ?

Anyone is experienced in this category and can offer me any practical and meaningful advice ?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Heidi

Did you change your address since your last visa issued? If no, then just wait for your curtailment letter to arrive in post.

Use this online link to see what's your current status: https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work

In the mean time, get a new job/sponsor ASAP.
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Hi SRSW,

I do not know your name but thank you so much for sharing with me this invaluable information. It is to the point and pretty helpful.

I changed my address but I kept watching any letters from both address and no curtailment letters for me so far.

I just checked my status using the link, it states I can work in the UK until 2021.
Does this mean the home office has not dealt with my case and sent out the curtailment letter yet ?
If they already dealt with my case and sent out the letter, my status should be changed, right ?

Another question, I notice there is a sentence on the same page:
''Do not give this page to your employer – it is not proof of your right to work''--I feel confused about this because in another line it states'' I can work in UK before 2021'', but why it is not a proof of my right to work ?

Could I know your opinion ?

Thank you
Best regards
Heidi

If you changed address then you need to report the same to UKVI via change of circumstances form. Check this out: https://www.gov.uk/change-circumstances-visa-brp and better to do it so you don't miss out any letters from UKVI.

Yes, based on that info it maybe safe to assume that your case is not dealt with yet, hence still showing as 2021.

Your visa is tied to a particular employer, so you can't show it as proof of right to work anywhere else/other company. That's what that sentence may imply (I guess).

Good luck with your job hunt.
