Indian wife applying for EEA Family permit to join her EU Husband in UK

Post by Thinesh23 » Mon Dec 16, 2019 7:41 pm

Hello,

I am an EU citizen working and living in UK for about 11 months now. My wife is an Indian citizen and planning to apply for EEA Family permit as I do not have Pre-settled status.

As per the link https://www.gov.uk/family-permit I am planning to apply EEA Family permit for my wife. If any one could please let me know the below that would be great.

1. What are the supporting documents my wife should submit?
2. What are the supporting documents I should provide to her?
3. How long will it take?

I want her to apply before Brexit! (Jan 31 2020).

The reason I did not apply for Pre-settled status because my son who is an EU citizen like me living in India with my wife. I will apply for Pre-settled status with my son once they join with me in UK.

Your valuable guidance will be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Hey as I understand you are going to apply EEA Family Permit as your wife would be in India.Generally to prove the relationship, the documents are pretty much same for everyone. I will tell you what I submitted in my application - I have applied for Unmarried partner (Durable relationship with my partner). I have also applied inside the UK for the residence card at the moment. I'm sharing the documents which I submitted.

"I applied for a durable partner under EEA Regulations as my partner is a EEA national. I received my Biometrics letter and COA - and atm I'm waiting for the decision"

The documents I submitted : we met through the online dating platform

2017 January - 2017 July : Chat Log ( How we met and how we moved to live in) ( Important part is to show the dates we had been in contact with each other)

2017 July - 2018 February : 1st Accomadation evidence where we lived together

(Correspondence's from officials as a evidence given) - don't remember which ones

Also,Unfortunately we don't have joint agreements except the joint bank account which I created in the month of August 2019,

2018 February - 2018 September - Second Accommodation

(I had my university letter for address and my partner has GP Letter and WiFi Contract)

2018 September - 2019 August : 3rd Accomodation
(Landlord's letter for the cohabitation ,Joint Account statement and Deliveroo Receipts😂and my partner bank account)

I haven't added more information about evidence of letters as I don't remember but we made sure that we add everything which has been sent to us via government officials. In total there were 15 official address proof separately.

Relationship proof :

We had emails written to each other from last two years ( Example : I would sometimes share the event to my partner from Eventbrite on Gmail and then he would register for tickets) - that was like 6-7 of them

We visited Thailand, Liverpool, Cambridge,Thorpe Park , Bath ,Hayling Island together and with friends.

We attached the travel itinerary and photos with it in the envelope (Dated)

I don't remember much about anything more which I might have sent.

The most important part :

The Home office likes couple sharing money.

My partner borrowed me money for my university tution fees in 2018. I attached that transfer proof.

We shared money while our travels.

I attached all the financial evidence (Bank Statements) from 2017-2019. Only pages where my partner is shown transfering money to me and me transfering him.

I would assume I had like 12-15 pages of that.

What I would advise to be the essential part would be :

SPONSORS LETTER (Signed)

APPLICANT'S LETTER (Signed)

We made a declaration to home office that we would like to live permanently and mentioned how we met, why we liked each other, where did we support each other etc.

I had the postal application and I forgot to put one signature and my application was rejected because of that but they asked me to apply again and I did that on the same day. I received my acknowledgment letter and Biometrics after 3 days then.

There is no "applying together" for the EU settlement scheme. Each applicant has to apply separately. Applications are linked when subsequent family members apply and quote your application number; there is a space specially for that in the form.

That is to say, this no reason to delay your application to the Settlement Scheme. As long as they apply after you and type your application number in their own application form, there is no difference between them applying 5 seconds or 5 months after you.
My posts express what I believe are the facts, based on the best of my knowledge, about the topics discussed in this forum. They do not constitute immigration advice.

For me it was 5 days from application to bio appointment. And 14 working days between bio and return of passport with visa. However people on this forum report instances of 30-50 working days waiting.

It depends on many factors, I assume
