Excel for days out of the UK

compliments for the forum, really useful

I have a question about days out of the UK. I have French passport. To apply for the citizenship I know that I need to have spent less then a certain number of days in the country.

My days out are 87 in the last 12 months, 459 in the last 5 years.

Do you think this can be a problem for my application?

Some days spent outside of the country are for business, but I'm self-employed so I cannot have a letter from my employer as it's myself.

Borderline OK as case worker guidance gives discretion. I think it was 480 days.

Check your numbers per instructions as days of travel don't count. For example leaving on the 12th and coming back on the 13th doesn't even count as absence (per instructions).

Finally consider postponing until you fall under the threshold unless you are travelling so much to make it worse. Oh and check that you were in the country 5 years before the date you file and pay.

Where an applicant has spent more than the 450 day for section 6(1) applications, or 270 days for section 6(2) applications, outside of the UK during the qualifying period you must consider exercising discretion if they meet the other requirements.

Where the applicant exceeds the permitted absence by 30 days or less you must exercise discretion unless there are other grounds on which the application falls to be refused.

The form has only 30 rows, so I need to attach a spreadsheet file.

In the file, which travels do I need to write? The latest two (made in 2019), or the first two (made in 2014)?

Depends which order you start the list online - not familiar with the online screen, whether it asks to start with the most recent or the earliest ....

On the online form, I started with first 30, and the rest were in a spreadsheet, which I then printed on a company letterhead through the HR and had them sign it. The letterhead and signature bit is not mandatory though as long as your days are under 450 (or 480, as HO will most likely exercise discretion anyway).

As I recall the instructions say put the extra trips in the additional information section. I don't think it matter as long as it is somewhere and the total is correct. I'd say make it easy for the case worker.
