Child registeration fees unlawfull, will they refund

Post by tier21419 » Thu Dec 19, 2019 9:07 pm

Just saw a topic on the forum that the court has ruled child registration fees as unlawful. In case if UKVI considers and reduces it to around £300+, then will they refund to the ones who have already paid £1000+ recently?

Probably fee changes may take place from a date and people who paid before will not get a refund

The judge has given permission for an appeal, which I expect to take place. So I would not expect a change any time soon.

Even assuming a change, the government may make the change in fees extremely narrow (perhaps only registrations on Form T, for children born in the UK and who have lived in the UK for the first ten years of their lives, on whose behalf that case was filled).

It is not impossible that the government may steeply hike other fees (for applications at discretion, such as naturalisation) to make up for the loss of fees from child registration.

And changes in fees are almost certainly never retrospective. You may have to file a new court case for getting refund on fees already paid.
