EUSS Family Permit

Post by alkeyam » Tue Dec 24, 2019 7:16 pm

Hello everyone!

This is my first post. I see a lot of threads about EEA FP, but not so many for EUSS FP, unless I am mistaken with the code words used in the forum. I also apologize in advance for my lengthy post.

I, very recently, applied for the EUSS FP from the US as the direct family member (spouse) of a EEA citizen with Settled Status and exercising Treaty Rights in the UK. I bought Priority Service, overnight mail deliveries, and SMS confirmation/updates. I got my fingerprints done on Dec 16th, overnighted all documents the same day, got a delivery confirmation from UPS on 17th, got a text message from VFS on 18th saying documents had been received, and so far, an email from LiverpoolVisaInfo@fco.gov.uk with an assigned VAF number.

I sent more documents than required for the EUSS FP in order to avoid a non-straightforward refusal or the like.

Documents I sent:
-My original passport & marriage certificate (which were the only original documents required for the EUSS FP)
-Cover Letter (explaining nature of relationship since it's a same-sex marriage and he is not openly gay, but I am, and why his family did not attend)
-Photographs of us together on trips and such & wedding ceremony photos
-Bank statement of joint bank account (to show my permanent address, proof of relationship, and income)
-My birth certificate (to show my mother's maiden name and her current photo ID for matching purposes since she was one of the witnesses of my wedding)
-Airplane Tickets (To show that I am planning to go to the UK soon, and eventually settle)
-Job Offer Letter & Work Payment Stub (to show my address, income, and occupation)

Partner's copies of:
-Passport (to prove identity)
-EUSS Settlement Scheme CoA/Settled Status Letter (to prove immigration status)
-Bank Statement (to prove address & income)
-University Enrollment Letter (to show his current main occupation & address)
-UK Insurance Coverage Card (to show he's covered)

It seems to me according to way things are moving that I will receive an answer quickly, wouldn't you say?

I feel that applications sent to Liverpool move more quickly, but given the holidays, they may be delayed a little, no?

Thank you in advance for your comments.

Can't comment in detail on your post, perhaps this link will clarify, if not seen already:

Hi alterhase58,

That's the link I used to get all my information for the application, but it is rather vague, and I applied the way I did based on what I've seen online; on here and on other forums, yet I do not see many people posting much in regards to the EUSS FP. It makes me wonder if it's due to its relative recent nature or because it's less complicated and people's applications get approved more quickly or easily... I'm just spitballing now and trying to get people's input on the process from their experience, so I can get a feel of the similarities/differences with the EEA FP.

Cheers!
