Early extension of Tier 2 General Visa

Hi Gurus,

My Tier 2 general visa is expiring on 2nd July 2020.
I want to apply for a early extension in Feb 2020. Is early extension still possible under the latest rules.
My employer is flexible on COS dates, but doesn't know much about the rules.
