How often are interviews required for first passport applications?

Post by PsykerGirl » Wed Jan 08, 2020 10:00 am

Hi everyone.

I've recently applied for my first British passport from Australia. I was registered as a citizen via the new(ish) UKF route.

I'm wondering if I will have to have a passport interview, and if these are commonplace or rare. I was able to have my identity verified online by a friend who is a UK citizen. I am waiting for the passport in order to migrate, and I'd love to have it sooner rather than later.

Cheers!

Passport interviews are done at random (purpose of confirm identity of applicant). Not sure how it works if you are based abroad.
