UK Born Child - First Passport

Post by newszb » Wed Jan 08, 2020 12:17 am

Dear Moderators, i have been using this forum directly and indirectly since i came to UK for my wife visa , myself and now for my newborn son, thanks a million to this board members for incredible knowledge ( login details forgot, registered again).

I am new to this topic, so please feel free to put your suggestions

I received ILR on April 2019, my son was born in December 2019,

1. Can i apply for his British passport directly or is there anything do i need to do ( Registering as British Citizen, or )?

2. Please provide the link for required documents to apply child first Application ( Normal Track)

3. Once he got his passport, we need to visit India, do i need to take Visa or anything from Indian Embassy?
i have Indian passport.

Thank you

Child is already British citizen as born after you gained ILR - no further application necessary. If your spouse is a British citizen you can apply now (or could have as soon as you gained ILR).

1. Child's birth certificate Yes
2. My ILR original and what else ? Yes
they are asking parents birth certificates? we don't have birth certificates?.No (for British parents only)
can i send my passport instead ?Yes

The online portal should tell you what is required, but looking at the paper form instructions:

"... Born on or after 01/01/83 – Your ‘full’ birth certificate or
adoption certificate that shows your parent’s details (the
‘short’ version which is issued for free by the registrar is not acceptable)...."
"....Evidence of applicants’ parent’s immigration status in the UK
at the time of applicant’s birth.
This could be:
Ÿ Parents’ passport at the time of applicant’s birth
Ÿ If fathers passport, the marriage certificate between
applicant’s mother and father is needed."
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
