1. Are online bills accepted or they do they need to be received through the post? (Mobile bill)
2. My wife and i have a joint account. She also has an account in her name. Will we be able to show statements from both accounts for the “items of correspondence”. It will be from the same bank. Will this count as two different sources?
3. My wife's BRP expires in Aug 2022. I’m i correct in thinking that we need to gather documents from June/ July this year, as we only need to show two years of correspondence from the application date?
4. Also can someone please tell me where the official guidance for the items of correspondence is? I have looked everywhere on the UKVI/GOV website but unable to find it.
We live in my parents house so we don't have many bills in our name. If anyone has any suggestions for any documents that can be given for items of correspondence, then please let me know. I will have many documents for myself but may struggle for my wife. Mobile network providers carry out credit checks so i am struggling to get bills in her name. I know its two years away but i need get bills for this year. (2020)
1. It is likely better to receive them through the post if possible. Some members, myself included, have used some online bills and been successful though it is likely best if these are in a similar form to what would be received by post rather than simply an online statement or something marked as an online copy until the Home Office issues clearer guidance on what is acceptable in this regard.
2. What constitutes an individual "source" is not clearly defined so it is likely best to assume one bank would be one source rather than separate accounts counting as separate sources.
3. Yes.
4. I'm not aware of any current official guidance on this though it can be found on old versions of the paper application available on various third-party sites. The FLR(M) online application will generate this as required supporting evidence:
Six items of correspondence addressed to you and your partner at the same address as evidence that you have been living together since your last grant of leave in this category, or from the date you first started living together, covering the last two years. The items of correspondence should be addressed to you jointly or in both your names. The dates of the items of correspondence should be spread evenly over the whole period you are relying on. They should be from at least 3 different sources. If you do not have enough items in your joint names, you may also provide items addressed to each of you individually if they show the same address for both of you.
For example - 4 items of correspondence in joint names to the same address and 2 items addressed to each partner at the address. In total 8 items would need to be submitted. If you and your partner have no bills or correspondence in joint names, you will need to submit 12 items (6 each) of correspondence, evidencing that you reside together at the same address.
There are many possibilities of items you could include, you should also consider having you and your wife added to some of your parents bills as well as you could then use those items. Other possibilities include:
• letters or other documents from government departments or agencies, for example HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, DVLA, TV Licensing
• letters or other documents from your GP, a hospital or other local health service about medical treatments, appointments, home visits or other medical matters
• bank statements/letters
• building society savings books/letters
• council tax bills or statements
• electricity and/or gas bills or statements
• water rates bills or statements
• mortgage statements/agreement
• tenancy agreement(s)
• telephone bills or statements
