Travelling with ILR - Which queue do you join at passport control?

Post by Magus1984 » Thu Jan 23, 2020 9:20 am

Apologies for this very basic question but I am a non EU citizen who has just been granted ILR in the form of a Biometric Residence Permit.

I was wondering if now that I have this card whether I could join the UK or EU queues when going through border control/immigration at airports. (ILR was through EU settlement scheme) or do I still need to queue on my own on the "Other passports"?

Experiences/thoughts welcome.

If travelling on your own, I would say, the Other passports queue, as your nationality has not changed.

If travelling with your EEA citizen spouse/sponsor, the EEA citizens queue.

Having said that, keep in mind that which queue you join seems to be a policy that varies from airport to airport and that the queue distinction is primarily for the benefit and ease of Immigration officers.
