Visitors Visa uk

Post by Dobbo89 » Fri Jan 24, 2020 4:15 am

Hi, I'm looking to bring my girlfriend to N.Ireland from the Philippines for a two week visit. But my problem is she does not have the £3000 pound savings. Can I sponsor her, does she still need the money. I'm a British national.

There’s no requirement to have certain amount of money on applicants’ account. She just needs to be able to demonstrate that she has money to pay for her trip AND that she will be coming back to Philippines at the end of her trip.

You can sponsor her, of course, but note that the pure existence of someone in UK, who can sponsor and accommodate doesn’t solve the above “return” problem. In fact, it just makes it worse. The moment you get someone in UK, is the moment you are classified as “higher risk of overstay”. If applicant also has no money if there own, questions can start popping up in IO’s head as to why this trip is trip is happening at all

What are her links to P? Family? Work/study?

You need to be able to show she is a genuine visitor and will come back to her home after.

As repeated on this website multiple times, this is not an exact science. If she has good job (and good means bringing at least some money in Western world eyes ie at least around 500-700 EUR per month) and she can demonstrate that she puts some money aside (not necessary 3k GBP) and can pay for at least part of her visit to UK, and she has strong family ties, then, most likely than not, her visa will be approved.

Don’t plan 2-3 months’ visit as well. Limit it to a couple of weeks so that it’s easier moneywise and sounds more like a genuine visitor (people who can leave their home for 2-3 months either don’t have a real job to come back to, or no social ties in the eyes of IO).
