Passport Will Expire Soon: How to get for full extension

Post by pantaiema » Fri Apr 08, 2005 1:48 pm

Dear All

My HSMP application has been approved. Around June 2005 I am going to apply for another extension for 3 years because I believe that I am qualified for full extension.

The problem that I am having is that my Passport will expire on May
2006 (Next year). I contacted my Embassy and was informed that I could only renew my passport 3 month at the earliest (which means on February 2006 at the earliest).

In the meanwhile, I will apply for HSMP extension for 3 years on June 2005 (this year)

Given I am qualified for full extension, is it possible in my case I get full extension for 3 years (until 2008) instead of until the expire date of my passport (May 2006). I will certainly let my passport renewed on February 2006 and therefore could probaly . by that time ask Work Permits (UK) Home Office HSMP to transfer my HSMP stamp to my new passport ???.

I case not how could I best deal with this problem. My embassy certainly do not want to renew my passport before February next year ?

I thank you very much in advance for all advice and certainly will inform my experience in extending my HSMP.

Cheers

I my opinion they will not issue a renewal that early. Don't worry though, just make sure that when you renew your passport that you get your cancelled one returned to you with the HSMP visa page and extension undamaged. Then you will notice that when you enter the UK again the immigration officer will stamp your new passport with a date stamp and write either 'v.i.p.p' (visa in previous passport) or 'a.p.p.p' (as per previous passport)

Your extension will be for the full three years, it is up to you if you want to either pay to have the visa transferred to your new passport or carry both.

I have the same issue - I just applied for FLR and my passport expires in 2007. Let's see whether they give me FLR until the expiry of my passport or for full 3 years...

I speak from experience.

I received my initial HSMP visa last year with an expiry date of May 2005. My old passport expired late last year (2004). When I received my new passport I simply carried both.

Cheers,

THe home office gives the extension unrelated to the pp expiry date. I have recd HSMP extension for 3 years upto 2007 and my passport expires in 2006. SO I would simply have to renew my pp in 2006 and carry both passports

The same was applicable to me. I got my 3 years extension (till sept 2007) last year but my pp is expiring in Feb. 2006. That didn't stop them from issuing me a 3 yr extension.

cheers
