What to do to have your EEA EFM through member of household approved?

Post by tawiahasamoah1 » Sun Feb 09, 2020 9:46 am

I am looking to apply as EEA EFM through my cousin whos an EEA national in the UK. I am a member of his household but doesn't directly support me financially. What are my chances at success?

Every case is considered on individual basis, so difficult to tell what are your particular chances.

You do not have to be dependant on your cousin if you have been, and continue to be, a member of their household. However, you do need to prove that you have both lived, and continue to live, in the same house/address. How are you a member of your cousin's household if they are in the UK? Are you already in the UK?

I came to the UK in 2018 as a tier 4 student living on campus in a different town. I lived at his house during holidays and after I completed university. Really want some clear direction on how to go about it please.

But do you currently live with him? More important than knowing how to "get it approved", is knowing if you are eligible at all. If you do not currently live with him then you are not a member of his household.

In your case, the most important thing is to prove that you live with your cousin and that his address was your address during non-term time.
You do not need to prove dependency.

Best documents to provide are council tax bills of his address with your name on it; failing that, bank statements, GP appointment letters or NHS correspondence addressed to your at his address. And obviously proof that he either rents or owns the property, and lives there: tenancy agreement on his name, or title deed, mortgage bill, or utility bill, etc. The onus is on you to collect reasonable proof.

For any more detailed information of what documents cover all your bases, see here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... rm-eea-efm

Application form is here.
Guidance documents are here.

READ THE ABOVE. That is the single best advice anyone can give you.

Thank you, I have read extensively on the topic and was hoping to come across anyone who might have used a similar approach and what they did to be successful.
