MY SISTER WAS PICKED UP BY BIA/IMMIGRATION THIS MORNING AND IS IN DETENTION WAITING TO BE DEPORTED.MY ADVISE IS THAT YOU MUST TALK WITH YOUR LAWYER IF YOU WANT TO SEND FURTHER LETTERS ABOUT YOUR CASE.MY SISTER FOLLOWED ADVICE ON SOME IMMIGRATION FORUMS AND SENT LETTERS AND PHOTOS TO BIA ASKING FOR HER CASE TO BE LOOKED AT.SHE ALSO GAVE THEM HER NEW ADDRESS.AFTER SEVEN YEARS OF LIVING HERE,SHE WAS PICKED UP THIS MORNING.HER LAWYER DID NOT KNOW SHE HAD BEEN SENDING LETTERS AND PHOTOS TO BIA.SHE WILL BE ON THE FIRST FLIGHT TO NIGERIA.I CANNOT SLEEP WITH WORRY AND SADNESS.

I think this depends of the details of her case and how she went about it.Others have done the above and got their cases thrashed accordingly.

I think this depends of the details of her case and how she went about it.Others have done the above and got their cases thrashed accordingly.

Obviously this depended on the details of her case. My reason to warn others is that they need to be careful.

Update: We are currently awaiting a JR of my sisters case. HO/Immigration/BIA insist a refusal letter was sent weeks ago. We never received it. Letter arrived this morning and yet my sister has been in detention for days! Our lawyer has also requested that a senior case worker look at the case. We dont know if this will help.

Background: My sister and I both claimed asylum within weeks of arriving here seven years ago. I was given refugee status 3 years ago, my sister was not. It is for this reason that we believe HO/BIA/Immigration made a mistake because one of the reasons for expedition I am sure is that a decision was made on a similar case for other family members. I am not sure of the exact words. This is why we have asked for a senior case worker to look at this. I will try and let everyone know how that works out. Good luck to everyone else.
