EEA Dependency clarification needed!

Post by Patience » Thu Aug 07, 2008 12:54 pm

# Children over 21 must be dependent on you or your husband, wife or civil partner.
# Your parents and grandparents or the parents and grandparents of your husband, wife or civil partner. Parents and grandparents must be dependent on you or your husband, wife or civil partner.
What is the meaning of dependent in this case.

How is the dependency considered? How can I prove they are dependent on me?

I wish to invite my Mum and Dad over.I am a holder of an EEA Residence Card.

Thanks!

Are you an EEA national, or your spouse/partner is?

Dependency is usually financial - i.e. you send them money every month as they have no income of their own. It can also be if they require you to take care of them, e.g. health problems, and they have no other family member that lives with or near them.

Thanks Sakura.

My wife is an EEA National.

I always thought the dependency will be financial. So what sort of documented proof of financial dependency can I prepare?

I understand my banking records will serve as proof of my own income to support them....However I am referring to documented proof to show I have been supporting them financially or materially where they are.

Should I keep and provide copies of money transfer slips etc.
