Thanks for all of the wisdom shared - I haven't been very active here, but have learned so much (and avoided any legal fees!) just from reading through previous posts.

One note - because I saw some confusion in other posts - I submitted a payslip and bank account statement dated after my online submission but before my UKVCAS appointment, and this was absolutely fine.

Overall I was surprised by how straightforward and quick the process was. My route was easy, I did not overthink it and collected all documents myself (no lawyers etc), only applied what was on the HO checklist during the application

Just want to share my timeline. My wife was on Tier 1 General's spouse visa, then went on to the 5-year partner route as I had my ILR back in 2014.

Applied for ILR Route : 11/01/2020 SET(M) (same day as her visa ends. But we have started to fill it in a week earlier)
Date application sent : 11/01/2020 online application with super priority service option.
Document received by HO : 31/01/2020 - finished uploaded around 7am before driving to the Biometric appointment at 10am. We uploaded to Sopra Steria's website ourselves - I used google drive to scan documents mainly.
Ack letter received (if applicable) : 11/01/2020 confirmation via email
Biometric Letter received : 6/02/2020
Date Biometrics Enrolled : 31/01/2020 - 10am. This was the only one we could book for free near the Birmingham airport office. The process finished around 10:50am.
Payment Debited : 11/01/2020 for 3208.20 GBP
Approval/Refusal Received : Approval email received on 3/2/2020 at 12:54pm
BRP Card Received : 5/02/2020 (re-delivered to 10/2/2020 as we're away - DX delivery). Date of issue on card says 3/02/2020

Sopra Steria Appointment: 17 Dec 19-Birmingham(All Doc scanned/submitted online by myself which made the appointment process very quick.Spent only 30 mins at appointment centre and we were done!

Decision : Waiting...No idea 6 months waiting time starts from date application submitted online or after bio appointment.Anyway lets wait!

My current visa expires on the 28th February. I submitted my ILR application using the 24hrs superior service, my biometric was taken and document submitted at 8am Sopra Steria Croydon.Received a text messaged at 18:06 "Your information has now been submitted to UKVI". It's been over 24hrs, no email or phone call from the HO however i have called the UKVI helpline and they advised that I called back on Monday if I haven't back from the HO. I have been checking my current status using the link shared on this page and my status hasn't changed, so i guess no action has been taken.
