I've currently applied for an EEA family permit for my husband who is currently a Pakistani National and Resides there. I am a Belgian national and reside in the UK. I have permanent residence here.
So the first time we applied they rejected our application because they didn't believe I still had my UK residence. So instead of appealing the case we re-applied giving supporting evidence to dispel that claim. (Another reason for re-applying is that I am currently pregnant and we don't have time to wait around!)
So anyways, we re-applied the second time with all evidence and paid for a priority service in hope that we would receive our answer within the 5 working day time slot. That unfortunately didn't happen, almost 10 working days later I contacted the home office to get an update on our application to which they said it was currently awaiting a decision. Another few days passed and I contacted again for an update because we're on a time crunch... And this time they said that the decision had been made and we should expect the passport to arrive shortly.
Now here's the confusing part, I called again after a few days after no sign of the passport, to which they said that a decision had not yet been made and they need more time/information. I explained that I had been told the decision had been made already and we hadn't received any sort of email or text message to say that more time was required. They said we are escalating the application, we'll send you an email now and we will deal with this today. I said okay and that was the end of the conversation.
They didn't bother sending an email and now honestly I hold up my hands because I don't know what to do or what to expect! The fact that they gave misleading information, and then didn't bother to keep us in the loop despite having paid for priority service is extremely frustrating.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? How much longer can I expect to wait? I'd rather they not waste my time because if the visa is rejected again I'd like to fly back out to be with my partner for the birth of our child!
