Tier4 Dependent to Tier 2 General (for different Employer)

Hi,

Currently i am on Tier-4 Dependent visa and working as a full time employee with ABC Company. Another Company is Sponsoring my Visa. As XYZ sponsoring my Tier-2 General visa, can i Continue in my current Organization (ABC) till my visa approved and submit resignation later?

(or)

as once my visa approved my status will change automatically, so am i have to submit resignation upfront from my current organization and do apply for visa ?

please suggest the best way to avoid legal challenges.
