switching from WP to Tier 1

I am currently working in the UK and i am a WP holder. I have been here for past 1 year. My wife is in UK on a dependant visa. And she is working in the UK.

Now i am planning to switch to Tier 1 visa.

I have the following doubts. Can anybody please advice
1) If we are filing an application togethre (tier 1 for me and dependant of Tier 1) how much should be the maintanance fund that i should show?
2) If i am applying alone and i get my Tier 1, will my wife be able to legally work in the UK with her dependant visa (stamped with my WP).
