A mistake in my Visa. How serious is that?

I'm a Moldavian citizen with a 4 years UK residency. I'm leaving for a holiday to Portugal next week, and I got my visa this Tusday. Only later I realised that one letter from my passport number has been misspelled. Now I'm worried that it might create problems with Portuguese immigration. I called the consulate and they said that there shouldn't be any problems, but they can change the visa, should I decide to do so. However, for me that means another day off from work, and travel expenses to London. Has anyone had similar issues? Is there is a risk that they can refuse me to enter Portugal with this mistake? Please advise. Thanks

Should be alright, my gf's name was misspelled on her German Work Permit, although it's more a case of how they spell it rather than an error! Nadezhda on her passport, Nadezda on the WP/Visa...

Yes there is a slight risk they may not let you in. A wrong number is more serious than a misspelt name.

At the least you should try and get a letter or fax from the embassy stating what they told you about it "being alright" and take that with you.
