previous change of employment not authorised

Dear All,
I have just submitted an application for change of employment (work permit). Have been on a work permit since 2005 (health) with my current employer, and got promoted in 2006 but this change was never authorised by the HO (neither HR or myself were aware that this had to be authorised). Am not planning on resigning from my position until the new work permit is approved but was wondering how this will affect my pending application. I think it is being treated like a new application anyway as this is a different job with a different employer.
