Travelling without a British Passport after Naturalisation

Post by jc3013 » Sat Jul 04, 2020 6:22 pm

Hi everyone,

I recently became Naturalised and will need to travel before the end of August.
I've noticed that processing times are around 6 weeks however they also make note of everything being slower at the moment due to covid.

I still have my brp card, but I am curious has anyone travelled in and out of the UK after naturalisation on their current passport after the fact?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

Joel

Have you attended the ceremony?

You only become british AFTER you attend the ceremony. Before that you can continue to travel on your other passport and ILR BRP. After the ceremony, you have to return the ILR BRP to Home Office within 5 days by law.

If you had your ceremony, you have to return your ILR-BRP within 5 days by law. So yea you can not travel on your BRP then as its not valid.

You have good two months to apply for British Passport. Hope it will be processed sooner than that given the current crisis. In normal timelines BP arrived in around 2 weeks before the corona crisis.
