Hi there,

what is your nationality?

How quickly can you get a new PP?

Your question is complicated, as 2004/38/EC does not talk about expired passports.

As Irish authorities deal with EU1/EU4Fam applications at the last legal minute, sometimes after this legal limit, it might be OK for you to have a valid passport before they come back to you.

I guess your original application-date might count as such in this case. But as they try to deter/delay all applications as long as legally possible and even beyond that, I wouldn't count on that.

A valid passport should be in your own best interest!

I hope someone can give a more exact and detailed answer.

In any case I'd apply for a new PP as soon as you can, and once you have it update your file with GNIB/DoJ/INIS with that new passport !

Good luck.

Christian

About the 10 days I'm not sure - they won't deal with your application for quite a while, so just give them the new passport once you have it.

What stamp does "your consulate" ask for? If you need a new passport you need a new passport... I don't get what stamp they may want to see.

They see you are one of their citizens, and this should be enough to issue you with a new passport?!

In the worst case scenario tell them you need the passport to travel home, which is impossible at present because this one is expired... :?:
