ESOL English test

Post by JonnyBD » Wed Aug 19, 2020 12:33 am

Hi, I did my Entry Level Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life (Speaking and Listening) (Entry 3) from City & Guilds. This was done and passed on 08 May 2010. I received my ILR with a BRP card in Feb 2013.

I have now completed the Life in the UK test and passed on 16 Aug 2020. Can I use the same certificate that was previously approved for my B1 equivalent English language when I submitted my ILR back in 2013? I read that from Nov 2013 everything changed and maybe I cannot use my certificate again.

I know it has been 10 years since I passed my Entry 3 and 7 years since ILR so I am worried I will have to fork out another £170 for a new B1 test from one of the approved centres again.

Is there anyone who can advise? Or does anyone know any reasonably priced centres in North / East London where I can do the B1 test again. I am looking to submit my application for Naturalisation soon.

Thanks.

The criteria for reuse of English language test includes
a. it was previously used for a successful application
b. the test provider is still on the approved list by HO

ESOL was removed from the list years ago so you you need to have take a UKVI English test SELT passed at CEFR level B1.

Thanks.

Thank you for your guidance. We have booked on to a Trinity GESE Level 5 B1 course in Hammersmith this Sunday.
