Spouse visa

Post by DBytyqi » Sun Aug 23, 2020 2:09 pm

Hello all

I applied for spouse visa and I send passport in Belgrade consulate almost a year and a half ago , so I’m still waiting for visa and I don’t have passport I’m stuck I can’t go anywhere
So my question is Can I ask them to return my passport because I want to go in holiday? Is there’s any problem if I ask them to return my passport?

Thank you...

A Join Family visa takes 6 months to finish, if the applicant is the spouse or child of the sponsor. More complex cases can take up to 12 months.

You said it has taken 1.5 years, which is way longer than some of the most complex cases. Can you clarify why it has taken that long? Has the consulate given you a reason?

Some embassies but not all allow the original passport to be returned to the applicant while the visa application is in progress. Each embassy sets out its own requirement. You should contact the consulate in Belgrade to ask whether this is possible.

Try to apply for a second passport with relevant authorities on your country if it's possible. This could be an easiest solution.
I'm a dual Russian-American citizen and both of my countries allow to carry multiple valid passports, I have two for each.
