Visa

Post by willsk22 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 5:11 pm

Thinking of going to US for Christmas, possibly even stay with (extended) family there.....

I am British citizen
Wife is Russian with UK ILR......

which tourism visas do we require?

Am i correct to say tha I still get visa waiver? (went years ago but have had a minor police caution here since...)

Thanks in advance

Apply for a tourist visafor your wife. She needs to meet other requirements. As for yourself...

Depends. What was the "minor police caution" for?

bit of a scuffle in a random town about a year ago.

But speaking to my brother who`s been in similar situation etc, he went with visa waiver and produced his army id card as well and whizzed through... maybe i`ll do the same...

That doesn't really answer the question... What offence was the caution for? It's likely that you are not eligible for the VWP.

Sure, they will let you through... but you will have lied at the point of entry. If one day you want to emigrate to the US this can cause you a lot of grief.

As far as US immigration law is concerned a caution counts as a conviction. See here

From the Visa Waiver Wizard on the US Embassy website it would seem that you do need a visa
