No Surname in Passport but mentioned surname in during visa application.

Post by jevinzac » Wed Sep 02, 2020 10:15 am

Hi,

By mistakenly there is no Surname mentioned in my passport when in fact I had a surname. While submitting the CoS application, I was asked to type in the name exactly like in the passport but they didn't me click the next step without entering the surname. So I included my surname in the application. Will that be a problem during my visa approval?

Regard,
Jevin

Ideally, you should've rectified the error in your passport before submitting your visa application.
It is within your best interests that you do this immediately as surname is mandatory at most places including visa applications.
In your situation, I will apply for a passport name correction asap and include a cover letter citing the situation during my biometric appointment.
Any suggestions I make in the forum are out my personal experience and should not be taken as a legal/professional advise.
