BRITISH PASSPORT REFUSED

my mum born in nairobi, kenya 50 yrs back and she got british passport

got married in india and settled there, and her british passport expired and she never rewned it

in 1996 she made indian passport which expired in 2006, but she never travelled

she applied to renew her british passport in 2008, but british high commission refused saying she already had indian passport (which has already expired in 2006)

my question is

Can my mum get her british passport renewed and travel with british passport only.

please please help me

Is she a British citizen? Or did the British passport that she used to hold, state some other form of British nationality?

Another point to note - If she held an Indian passport the Indian authorities do not accept dual nationality so she would have had to renounce any other citzinship she held. That is more than likely why the BHC are saying she can not have access to a UK passport.

At best she would have held a British Overseas Citizen passport in any event which would not give har right of abode in the UK.

What is she trying to do, come to stay in the UK?
