I applied for my naturalisation a couple of weeks ago. I understand that naturalisation is not by any standard an emergency so don't expect a quick response, however, I got the following details from HO.
"We aim to process all applications within 6 months from the date submitted. However, in certain circumstances this target is not possible. Following our assessment of case, unfortunately it appears your application will not be processed within the 6 month target.
It is taking longer than usual to process applications because of coronavirus (COVID-19). This will not affect the decision. We expect to make a decision on your application as soon as possible, but we will write to you again if this is not going to be possible.
Yours sincerely,
Home Office"
I am assuming as its naturaliation there is no hurry to give out the results soon. However, mine is a fairly straight forward application. Thus, unsure if there is any other reason for this response and more than 6 months feels a very long time given that I had initially submitted and paid for the application back in April. Kindly note I have submitted my application through the IDV app route.
Unsure if anyone else within this group received a similar response too. It would be comforting in a way to know that someone too received a similar response and hence, I am reporting this query here. Thanks for any response in advance.
