Dual citizenship

Hi, If I apply for British citizenship for my child, can I hold the Indian passport or is it must to surrender. I came to know that I can hold both the passports until they become major, however would like to hear from experts in this forum.

Not in case of the child acquiring a foreign citizenship after birth. This topic has been discussed often on these forums.
