Prove of knowledge of English - query

Post by magsym » Wed Sep 30, 2020 12:36 pm

Hello all,

Does anyone know if a Level 7 postgraduate diploma (obtained from a UK Chartered Institute) counts as a proof of knowledge of English?

Or a Qualified Teacher Status certificate, granted by the General Teaching Council for England?

Many thanks for any insights.

M.

From my own experience a qualification awarded by a Chartered Institute or professional body is not accepted as proof of English.
Postgraduate diplomas awarded by a UK university are acceptable.

Here is the official guidance:
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... .0-ext.pdf

Quote from Page 16:
Diplomas
Applicants holding a postgraduate diploma, or a graduate diploma from a UK
university, are considered to have the required level of English for a ILR or
citizenship application.
Postgraduate diplomas are usually abbreviated as PGDip, PG Dip, PgD, PgDip.
Examples would be:
• postgraduate diploma in legal practice
• graduate diploma in law
• postgraduate diploma in education
• postgraduate diploma in teaching
