Hi
I am asking for one of my friend who recently got his ILR based on Eu settlement as he is married to European.
He has received the BRP card but the validity on the card is only for 8 months and on the card its say settlement.
Is that normal to have for 8 months and also how long he needs to hold the ILR for before he can apply for citizenship? as the card is only valid for 8 months

For naturalisation he has to wait 12 months after receiving ILR.
The expiry date on the card relates to the card - not the status. Settled Status is on the UKVI system so the card expiry date should not be on issue. This link may be helpful:

Validity period seems like an error. Can he make enquiries?

He has spoken to one lawyer and the lawyer have advised him he can apply before his card expire.
Which I seemed wrong as normally 12months as mentioned by Guru

I meant he may
ask the Home Office for an explanation.
Please, do share their answer.

Wonder if it's connected with the
30 June 2021 date?

Does he need to re-apply again for settle status by June 2021 or just ask to renew the card.

The newly issued residence card and PRC has validity date until 30th June 2021.
ILR under settled scheme should not.

It’s a bit odd to endorse the validity period of a settled status BRC to be less than a pre-settled status BRC? Think of all the holders who have to renew their settled status BRCs at the same time?
