I am currently in UK, my spouse is in Caribbean & was deported from UK after criminal conviction & 10 month imprisonment (not violent or sexual crime or anything like that at all!). I have the chance of working in Dublin and am considering it - but wondering if there is a chance that my husband can join me there. I have been looking thru some info on this board/irish immigration info site & seems he can come over as 'partner of an EEA national exercising treaty rights'. What I don't understand is, how he applies? Saw on site he would use EU1 form but that looks like a form to be used if you are already in Ireland; how would he apply from overseas? Re. Caribbean country he is in -he doesnt need a visa to travel to Ireland but surely he cant just turn up there and say 'oh I have come to join my wife she lives here now - can he?! I am also worried that, because of UK criminal conviction/deportation then, he will be refused entry to Ireland. Any info and advice would be appreciated.
Also, info as to what Dublin is like, living, working, finding reasonably priced accommodation, socially etc. I am of Caribbean parentage, British Citizen only been to Dublin once with family of a schoolfriend, many years ago whilst at primary school. Cant really rememeber it at all.
Thanks
LaLa
