Citizenship Absences Query

Post by casio1992 » Tue Oct 13, 2020 3:45 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have question regarding filling in the absences for citizenship application. I arrived into the UK on 09/2010 in tier 4 visa to study my degree. I switched to tier-2 November 2014. Got my ILR Last October 2019.

For my ILR application - date of arrival into the UK I put issue date of my first tier 2 and for absences I only listed the last 5 years because that is what I was basing my ILR application on (5 years on tier 2.)

For the citizenship they ask the same questions, confused what I should put in here, the last 5 years or 10 years of total time in the UK including tier 4.

Date of first entry when you came with the intention of a long stay so Tier 4.
However, you are only required to list absences during your qualifying period i.e. 5 years or 3 years (if married to BC).

This is not an immigration application, AN falls under the Nationality laws. It has its own residence requirements. Read the AN guidance to understand.
