I think they meant, any foreign embassy not Pakistani embassy used to verify birth certificates directly from union council, although it is not proper or may not be legal. In my opinion as Irish passport services told you “they are in contact with NADRA Pakistan for the purpose of verification of your birth cert.” forward the same email or letter whatever you receive from Irish passport service to NADRA or PM portal and then let see what is their stance on it?
Otherwise under FOI get real information from Irish Passport Service and it is better higher a Solicitor for this purpose and request for only particular information for example when and where you sent my birth cert. for verification, clearly tell them don’t want copies of own application and documents.

Have you checked the status of your online application yet. I think as soon as they open received documents, they will updated status.

When applied first time it was updated very next day when they received document but second time it took them 2-3 days. Did u guys get ur refund yet or not.
This is extreamly frustrating and unfair what they r doing with us on the name of covid and verification. Considering the hand written old records in Pakistan, I wonder if they find a spelling mistake or some other minor discripency in the records in union council what will they do? R they just going to refuse issuing the passport which should be the basic right of any citizen either born or naturalized.

No body knows how and what Irish Passport Service want to achieve by this birth certificate verification because we already given them a Pakistani computerized readable passport which can not be issued without the validity of your CNIC & Birth Certificate (means your Nationality) i.e. is also computerized. I don't know what will happen if some one born before Pakistan's birth? As for as I know in Pakistan registration of birth records has only been started since 1974 with Provincial Health Departments and computerized record keeping has only been started since 2007 under (Late Entry).

They have shut down the passport office again for 6 weeks possibly and most likely more means we will likely end up in same situation again that application is cancelled after 6 months and so on n on n on untill either we will give up or they will get straight at some stage and just refuse to give us the passport and show us that they can do whatever they want whenever they want. Lost hope today. Wish u guys best of luck and wish u guys get sorted soon.

Absolutely, I am so disappointed. It looks like no one is there to raise voice for us and they can treat us whatever way they want. I still failed to understand the concept behind this birth cert verification when there is a passport available from Pakistan. so so frustrated

Reapplied, new estimated date passed long ago again, further emails responded by office stating same as awaiting verification of birth cert.
Also I have heard there r quite a few of us being punished like this. Its all for a reason so I believe no matter what we do n even provide them with a verified certificate or further documents to proof our birth registration they r still going to take there time.

True, I think we should seek some sort of legal advice maybe after current lockdown.

So I reapplied and then the offices closed. Today I got my original documents back. I didn’t request for those. Have you guys got the documents back? Also did you get the fee from the first application back? I haven’t

Hopefully you will also receive your Irish Passport soon (its just my gut feeling), please update here whatever the news you got from Passport Office. Thanks

I havnt got any refund yet. I contacted them on chat few days ago n they said they normally say 4 weeks but generally fees is refunded in 10 days so if we havnt received it yet we need to contact again once office is open again. Its very unlikely we will get our Irish passport anytime in next 5 weeks as office is closed during Level 5. I hope ur gut feeling works after that

Hi guys, yes I got the same response that delay due to awaiting verification of certificate. The office is closed untill 2nd Dec so no matter what we do nothing is going to happen until that time.
U can see the speed camera vans r still operational even in level 5 but Immigration service seems to be the most non-essential here.

I got onto chat with them but to every question was the same. Will till lock down is over. Nothing can be done before that. I am just worried if the verification was not processed in 6 months at the time of last application. How will they verify this time ? I was reading here that some one submitted birth certificate after verification from dept of foreign affair and embassy. Any idea if that made any different ?
