Home student eligibility

Post by JKG778 » Wed Nov 18, 2020 12:21 am

Hi,

I needed some advice and would really appreciate your help. I am in the UK with tier 4 dependent visa. I came with my mother on 2016 and now we are in the UK for 4 years. I will start university next year. I was wondering if I would be eligible to apply for home student fees as I have lived in UK for more than 3 years. I would really appreciate any advice on this matter. Thank you

No, you would pay the overseas fee. The 3-year residence requirement is part of the eligibility but it does not in itself make you a home student. See the link provided in the previous answer.

None of the countries of the UK has published the regulations yet about eligibility for home fees from 2021, but the 2020 eligibility is published at the link posted earlier in this topic. You have not given enough information for someone to do a fee assessment for you, but nor is it reasonable or wise to use a board like this for getting advice on something so specialist and detailed.

The government has already said that some of the categories aimed at EU/EEA/Swiss nationals and their family will be either removed entirely or amended, but overall there will continue to be a residence requirement of 3 years in the relevant residence area.
