Passport Application On Hold

Hello

I applied for my first adult passport after naturalisation. I sent them following documents

1. Identity confirmation form (My accountant confirmed my identity)
2. Naturalisation Certificate
3. Current and expired passports (used to enter UK first time)

today after 7 days of sending documents I received following message from PO

You need to ask someone to fill in and sign a form to confirm your identity. This is known as getting a countersignature.

We’ve posted a form to you.

Your application will be kept on hold until you are able to send us your completed countersignature form.

If someone has already confirmed your identity for this passport application, ask a different person this time.

I don't know why they send me this message my accountant has previously done this for one of my colleague and there was no issue. I don't know anyone other then my accountant who meets the criteria to confirm identity. Anyone who has gone through the similar situation please share your experience?

I believe HMPO is not happy with what you have provided them i.e. your accountant’s confirmation. You must follow the instructions now. Since you applied online and already confirmed the identity online (by accountant), HMPO requires additional proof again other than your accountant, hence they sent you the form.

As the message says:

If someone has already confirmed your identity for this passport application, ask a different person this time.
