Hello,
My Son's Indian passport has expired. I have applied for passport renewal but I am not getting an appointment in Indian embassy at London as they have limited spaces due to Covid and the slots booking only opens on friday.
Will I need to pay ny sort of fine for the expired passpor? And is there any other way to renew the passort?
Swapnil

Take screenshots of the lack of available booking slots. If you ask you to pay a fine, show evidence that the issue was at their end due to a lack of booking slots. That should prevent you from getting a fine.

Hi sir/Madam
My passport is about to expire in another 4 months. I want to renew it asap. Could you please help me in finding the valid URL to submit the application and to book the appointment. Please let me know the list of documents required to submit the application.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Kiran

Hi coolrockspart2,
Could you please advice what time you booked your appointment (Day and time in GMT pls). In the new url, if i select either Hounslow or London as centre, the second drop down for "Service" remains disabled. Please advice.

I booked it around 11 am on Wednesday when there were many slots and I guess people have booked all of them as I remember I saw atleast 15 days slot from 11th November.
Also tried checking for appointment now and yes it is greyed out for hounslow and other london option.
Not sure what else you could do at this time as they don’t pick up phone nor respond to email.

HI Everyone,
I see a new page for passport appointment booking today. It shows availability. It is not vfs site, but HCILondon website. Please check. Thanks!

Until last few weeks, there was different VFS appointment website which was opening. Now all of sudden it has changed to
https://www.hcilondon.gov.in/appointment/
I hope that this is correct one for booking passport renewal appointment.
thanks,
priya

I have also taken appointment using the hcilondon link, haven't received any confirmation E-mail but I am able to search for the appointment by entering passport details.
My appointment is at the end of December.
Please confirm if anyone has an appointment in the coming few days through hcilondon website and are able to attend the same successfully.
Thanks

That’s the correct link as you will be redirected from main vfs website to the new link posted above when to try to book appointment.
https://www.vfsglobal.com/india/uk/how_to_apply.html
Don’t worry you should be fine. Also if possible attend as soon as possible to avoid delays.
I got my passport renewed in around 15 days applied 12 November got passport in my hand on 27th November.(provided your address on passport has not changed no police verification would be done and also provide copy of aadhar)

Thanks. Had a query on the envelope requirements for passport.
My appointment is at VFS Birmingham and the contact us section on VFS mentions that
"Due to collection failures and service disruptions, this centre does not accept Royal Mail envelope for return delivery. Applicants can organise courier services from the centre."
Does it mean that I have to necessarily take the courier services and need not carry the royal mail envelope at appointment? If yes, what are the charges by the courier for delivery of passport?

Hi All,
I had applied for Indian passport renewal for my 5yr old daughter last week (booked appointment via hcilondon and submitted all documents in hounslow centre). Today i got an email that police verificiation has been initiated for my India address. I wasnt expecting this because the address on old and new passport remains same. Does anyone know if a police verification is initiated, will it delay in getting my passport? Or do they issue passport in normal duration and still carry out police verification after that? Please clarify if anyone else had similar situation.
Thanks!

Please can one help you were in similar situation?

That's an automated message. Don't worry about it. I've had this happen to other people I know and they got their documents.

I have received a mail stating that due to CoVid my appointment at Birmingham has been cancelled.
Has anyone else received a similar message?
