Change of address while waiting for Ceremony Invitation Letter

Post by Justo » Wed Dec 09, 2020 12:35 am

Hello,
I have applied for naturalisation via 5 year Tier 2 General + 1 year ILR route. On 30/11 I received an email with pdf letter attached saying that "your application for British citizenship has been successful." Letter also says that I now need to wait for Citizenship Ceremony Invitation Letter.

Looking at the timeline thread it may take a few month between now and Citizenship Ceremony Invitation Letter to be received.

The issue is that I am changing the address within the same council. Who do I need to notify and how? Shall I specifically say to Council department running ceremonies about change of my address? And separately Home Office?

Thanks

You already have an existing thread:

Changing address can be tricky when it comes to official mail. However, you can use the UKVI address change service.

https://visa-address-update.service.gov.uk/

Even if you change your address, note sometimes the official mail can be sent at the previous address in error/HO simply does not update it. Its always a best practice to keep a contact at your previous address if possible and use Royal Mail redirection (which again can not be really trusted with official mail).

Hi,

I am in the same situation. I am not sure if a postal redirection could work.

In case of a failed postal redirection and returned to the council.. could this be a problem?

I read it is sent via Special Delivery. Could the new tenant receive it and keep it for you?
I don't know whether only the recipient can sign the delivery.
