At what part of the spouse visa application is the sponsors CRB check?

I will be applying for my spouse's UK visa soon. Just wanted to ask at what stage is the criminal check done?
Is it a standard or enhanced check and is it performed by the DBS?

Also when is it likely the priority/super priority service will resume? Is it optimistic to expect it to return too soon given the development of COVID and that we have just entered Tier 4 in London?

From my understanding, there is no where when it is categorically stated that criminality checks is done at a certain stage of the application. The online form itself asks series of questions about suitability, crime and or affiliation to or with organisations considered to be or classified as dangerous (if I can use that word). HO have their means and resources to check and or verify and presume an exhaustive one at that, not DBS.
When this service will be restored is not known. If you want to put in an application when it is restored you may have more unknown times ahead.

What do you mean not required? Is it only for the spouse they check yes- don't they do this for the sponsor? no checks for sponsor unless they have previously sponsor previous partners and it could lead to application being scrutinised but definitely no checks are carried for sponsor from my understanding.
