NI contribution as proof of residency

Post by osaz0062 » Wed Dec 23, 2020 10:48 pm

Hello,

I am in the process of applying for my British citizenship, and I am just looking at proving my 5 year residency.
5 years ago I was working, so I understand I can use that as proof of residency.
I requested employment history letter but my employment has not come up on the employment history letter as it is not coming up on the system, due to it being more than 5 years ago since I started working there

I have logged on to the UK tax online service so I can see it there, so i then requested a subject access request to get employment history letter, but they sent me NI contributions for the year.

I am asking if this NI contributions letter for the year will be alright to prove residency?

Thanks

As you are on UK ILR your passport(s) covering the residency period is all that's required.

Hello, sorry I forgot to mention, I was a minor when I came to the UK and the passport has been lost, apart from my most recent passport that was issued in July this year, I have NO passport to prove residency

Thanks

Do you have a P60s or Council Tax bill for the missing year?
Or other official documents/correspondence, such as HMRC, DWP (Child Benefit or Pensions)?
Have you worked with the one employer throughout? You could ask them to write a letter confirming you have been employed by them from/to.

I have a HMRC NI contribution letter showing my earning, tax paid and NI contribution for that year, it also shows benefits received that year as well.
Will that be enough to prove residency for that year?

I hope so, It has all the information a P60 has relatively, and more because it has benefit payments as well
