WP Validity & Travel IN n OUT of UK

Post by tvn_ramesh » Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:02 pm

Hello Senior Members n friends...

I tried to search for some information about my query as i could not find relevant info, i am posting a new topic (sorry if the topic exists and i could not find it)

I am in UK based on WP since 1year and my WP will be expired in March 09, i work for a company which has operations in Europe and using Schengin visa i travel in and out of uk once in a month...

My question is that i heard from one of my friend who is not sure but doubt that, if the WP Validity is less than 6months or 3months(?? not sure again) we should not travel out of UK without taking some letter/document?? from HomeOffice.. actually i am planning to go to India to attend a marriage in moth of Nov 08 and come back in 10days.. but by that time my WP Validity will be only less than 5months..

Is this true that i need to take a letter/ inform HO if we are travelling out of UK for personal/official visits and coming back to UK when the WP validity is less than 6/3months??

I tried to check on HO website and the following info i got..
---------------------------------------------------------------
http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/faqs/5167621/2969423

What is the latest date that I can arrive in the UK with my visa?

The expiry date will be shown on the visa, but remember that this is also the last day on which you are permitted to stay in the UK.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I just want to double check before i end up restricted from entering the country when i come back from my personal visit to India..

Any information/ suggestions will be highly appreciated..

Thanks in Advance

And please let me wait for more detailed reply from more patient seniors...

As somebody said.. this board is to share knowledge and information, not emotions...

There was no emotion, you just read into the answer as such. I just said I am sorry if my answer isn't clear enough for you. No need to turn it around and act like I am getting emotional. Do you tell women they are hysterical if they raise their voices?

You should have no problem re-entering as your visa expires mar-09...not unless you have secured your visa "falsely" using false documents. Based on the link you had shown...see question 1...until when it is valid...that will be enough...

Thanks Markie for your inputs..

Yes, i had gone through the link question 1. just wanted to double check on it as the senior boarders on this forum has more up-to-date information and experience answering same sort of question recently ( not taking chances that the link is updated, up-to-date??)

Thanks a Ton!!

Dear Republique...
No offence mate, i think you understand/shd do the same, that a person who comes on this forum with some problem looks for and tries to get as much clear and concrete information as possible, and before he takes a step he might ask the same question again and again, i know everybody in this forum might have been in that state once or gone through it..

the only reason why i was waiting for the 2nd opinon/suggestion is that you completely answered my question but it was a quickie.. (not like the one you explained in the quote)... which obviously is not clear or complete...

So, its nothing against you or anyone... sorry if you thought so.. Have a nice evening mate.. Thanks again for your inputs as well,

I have been told that WorkPermits have been advising people to carry letters but there has been no change in Border policy at the ports; providing the WP and passport are still valid the remaining leave still applies.

Do you mean to say that, you have been told to carry Letter (from whom and with wat contents??) when you travel out of Uk and show it when you return back with valid WP and Passport??

Can you elaborate on this? And do you have any idea of the format of the Letters??

Thanks for pointing this..

I have been told by several people that WorkPermitsUK (as was) have been advising phone callers to carry a letter from their employer to confirm that they are returning to the same employment, if they are returning within 3 months of the expiry of their leave.
