8 weeks turns to 8 months no decision yet

Post by ishansardar » Tue Jan 12, 2021 4:24 pm

Hi, this is my first post here and I was sent here from reddit, they said that I could get real information here. I'm sorry if I posted in wrong section but I couldn't find a FLR M section to post this so I thought ILR is the next best place.

So I've submitted application for my spouse visa extension and still haven't got any decision, the 8 weeks standard time has become 8 months now. I'll leave the timeline below from the very beginning.

*Online application 20th May (with all payments and stuff being completed)

*Then came corona and we couldn't find any slot to book to attend biometrics appointment

*Waited 3 month and was finally able to upload my biometrics on August 27th

*Thought it was gonna be done quick as we were told submitting biometrics via IDV app was faster but no results in 8 weeks.

*Called HO escalation team to escalate the case on 30th October, they asked for 10 days to give result. We waited 10 days but nothing.

*Called HO escalation team again after 10 days and they said they have sent an email which we didn't receive and asked us to call again in 5 days.

*We called them again in 5 days just to hear that they have stopped doing escalation and can't help us anymore

*We waited till end of November and reached out to Local MP's office and filed an complaint to HO.

*Middle of December MP replied back with the same email I got as a reply of the complaint I made. Both said my biometrics were injected into the application on 29th of October and they started standard procedure to give us a decision even tho we submitted the biometrics on 27th of August.

*We said fine even if it was injected on 29th October we should 100% get a decision in 8 weeks and here we are 9 weeks after still no decision or email from them.

We just don't know what to do anymore. We are in the verge of giving up. I needed to travel back to my home country so many times during this for very important reason and I've faced so much problem for not being able to go. God knows what will happen now.

Unfortunately, no one can answer for certainty why your application is delayed. You already took all the possible steps from your end.

If the delay caused has affected your life poorly and has given you mental stress or if you can provide evidence for any compelling/compassionate reasons, try writing to Home Office in post and send via recorded delievery.

HO takes any medical emergency/mental health seriously. But you need to prove it.

Not sure if you complained over the phone or followed the official procedure but see:

Good luck.

The last resort personally 9s the MP and you have used this option too. Can only advice on patience or to contact the MP again on the unusually long delays though this can only be taken as after biometrics considering the pandemic.
