HMRC Tax amend - ILR/Long 10 yr residence/Tier 2 Established staff

Post by labrepro » Tue Jan 19, 2021 5:11 pm

Hi experts

I am looking for opinion and some feedback on my situation.

I cam to UK in 2011 on Tier 2 ICT Established Staff category and have been working full time employee since then under Tier 2 ICT visa being renewed every few years. This year, i am planning to apply for ILR under 10 year long residence route.

I made an error when doing my self assessment in yr 2020 and it was rejected by HMRC. It was never processed as i forgot to enter amount i earned mentioned in p60. I rectified this within allowed period i.e. 12 months and filed the self assessment.

Having done some research on ILR and top reasons for refusal, i am worried i might fall into their reason to refuse bucket. I have never had any Tier 1 or Tier 2 general visa where you have to declare your income but stil there is a return amend on my record now.

Has anyone seen this and could offer some advice on whether this is likely to be a problem for me?

If the error or mistake was duly corrected and correct tax paid or needed payments to HMRC done then I see no reason why it should hamper your application.

Mistakes on tax returns do not affect your ILR. Do NOT confuse yourself with the old Tier 1G related tax amendment issues
