Hi, is there anyone that has attended a virtual British citizenship ceremony? How do they check that you are in the UK? Many thanks

They ask you for a declaration. If you lie, your citizenship can be revoked even later also. I am sure they have mechanisms in place to check location with IP address also. You must be in UK.

Ok I'm not after guesses, I'm asking people that have already done it.

Citizenship ceremonies are organised by local councils and are not centrally managed. Therefore it is quite possible that people's experiences may vary and thus other people's experiences may not match yours.

While you may not be interested in it, @CULLINAN's post has important points. At the time of the application, one of the requirements that you must meet is the future intentions requirement, that you plan to make the UK your main residence.

There have been two cases on these forums where people attended their citizenship ceremonies in the UK, but were investigated for breaching this requirement when they applied for their first adult UK passport from abroad.

So, as mentioned above, even if you attend the ceremony, citizenship can be revoked, or at the very least investigated, if it appears to the Home Office/Passport Office that you did not meet the future intentions requirement at the time of the ceremony (by being abroad, for example).
