My wife was asked for more information despite already having a status under the Settlement Scheme

Hi there,

Something very strange happened last week. My wife has pre-settled status under the settlement scheme (since November) but a week ago she received a mail telling her that she should submit more evidence. When she access her settlement scheme account, now she has two different applications: One for October 2020 (the one she got her status from) and one from February 2021. We think there was an error in the system and she should withdraw the one from February, but we are worried that she might lose her status.

An important thing to notice is that a week ago I started the process for Settlement Scheme myself (using her UAN). But the mail didn't say anything about me, and It is very weird that there is a new application under her account.

I don't know who to call to resolve this, but I thought that maybe someone here can help me.

Well, what is the information of the second application? Is it to her name, to your name, to a random name of a random stranger?
I suppose if you browse through it, can you recognise it?

We think there was an error in the system and she should withdraw the one from February, but we are worried that she might lose her status.

As far as I can see, current, pending applications; and old application with granted status are completely independent. Me too I am applying to Settled Status and I can see a button to withdraw the current application that has not yet been decided, while there is no button to remove my old application with my current Pre-Settled status. So I think what you do to the newest one should not affect the oldest.

That being said, as long as the extra application is never submitted, no harm is done, if you confirm it has nothing to do with your current application.

Do the analogous and go and check your own account and verify if your new application is indeed there? Verify you did not make a mistake and used her account instead? (as silly as it sounds, this has to be ruled out).

She actually received a mail yesterday telling her that she was granted pre-settled status (again), so I guess it was an error.
