EU Settlment scheme and non-EU partner

Post by sunshine010101 » Mon Feb 15, 2021 10:01 am

Hi everyone

My husband is from non-EU country (South Africa) and has a Permanent Residence Card and I have EU settled status. I'm from Poland. I am wondering if he also should go via EU settlement scheme application. Is there anybody in similar situation?

Many Thanks

Yes, he should. EEA Permanent Residence cards, even though permanent, will be valid only until June 30th 2021, and should be replaced by EU Settlement Scheme cards.

Good news is that he'll get Settled Status without any problem.

(I am assuming when you say Permanent Residence card you mean a permanent residence card issued under the EEA rules, is that correct?)
